About Valencia Hargrove, LPC, NCC, BC-TMH
Hello, I am Valencia Hargrove, LPC. I look forward to partnering with you on this new journey. I provide Telehealth sessions in the states of Virginia and Florida.
I have 15 years of experience providing mental health and substance use disorder services to adults. I specialize in supporting women experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD’s). I am passionate about working with women to help them navigate through the emotional phases of perinatal and postpartum stages of pregnancy. My work with women began back in 2013, working as a Healthy Start Clinician, at a local community mental health center. In this role, I provided group therapy, and case management to young women, that are pregnant or had recently given birth and trying to overcome substance use. I learned so much about the disparities related to access care for physical and mental health services, for women of color. After having the experience of providing support to women, a majority that looked like me, I was inspired my to do more for women and provide mental health care.
My approach to treatment is eclectic and combines a blend of treatment modalities. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotional freedom techniques and tapping, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions in my work with clients.I provide a safe and compassionate space for healing. Together we create strategies to help you transition to a better and whole you.
